Joyce Stark, ordained minister, wife Mother, Grandmother and a former native of Florida, has always had a heart for ministering to the youth and families. As a teenager, in Jacksonville, FL, she grew up actively involved in her own youth group and church where she ministered and served in ministry.
Moving to TN some 25 years ago, Joyce served at Byrams Chapel as youth pastor for more than 13 years. During here service at Byrams, Joyce also worked as a volunteer Christian youth minister for middle TN youth correction facilities. Her most active involvement in youth corrections was Overton Groves [a pilot program for serious youth offenders] which was under the directorship of former Director Endene Gerdes. Joyce was also very actively involved with Woodland Hills and Taft Youth Prison in Pikeville, TN, as well as other youth correction facilities throughout middle TN. She was very privileged to have worked with other youth chaplains in the correction programs.
But it was during her service as youth pastor, at Byram's Chapel, that the Lord placed it on her heart that eventually He would use her to birth a Christian Festival for the tri-county area. Thus Raise The Praise production, a youth and family gathering, that had been stored and simmering in the heart and mind of Joyce Stark for 9 years, came into fruition in 2006.
